This morning we travelled by taxi to Doi Suthep, to a large temple [ Wat phra That ] high up in the mountains.Iit is the most sacred of Thailand temples, first established in 1383. The temple is reached by a strenuous climb up a staircase of 306 steps.........we went up by cable car!!!!!!! The temple is very grand with fine carvings and the famously photographed gold plated Chedi.
Back to Chiangmai Mai for lunch and a rest before we were off again to the Night Safari. Had previously decided not to go on this trip, but met American who recommended it........should not have bothered. The entertainment shows were rubbish and the 1.1/2 hr tram ride round the animal park on a chilly evening was only average. The night was finished with a fountain and laser light show.......bit of a damp squid.
