Bangkok

Hi everyone, we are now in Bangkok and our second full day. Weather today overcast but still 28'. Guesthouse ok but they don't believe in cupboard or draw space, I suppose backbackers don't need them. Evening of our arrival we walked to Grand Palace park where celebrations celabrating the Kings birthday are still going on. All the streets are lit up with fairy lights and roads are lined with street sellers. Got to bed 12.00 pm, found bed a bit hard, Janina is complaining. Yesterday walked to pier and used river boat taxi to the Grand Palace. Go conned when we got off boat to take a 40 bht (90p) tuk tuk tour of local temples. Saw one temple, then our driver stopped at Travel agents, Tailors and Gem shop. He collects petrol coupons for taking us. We never learn!!!!! Grand Palace is a fantastic temple and took lots of photo's.

Today we visited a park to photograph birds. Up at 5.30, and a taxi ride at frightening speeds saw us there by 6.00. Still dark, couldn't see a dam thing till it got light at 6.45. After that it was good and saw lots of birds and butterflies. Now back at Guest house, feet up and sipping lime sodas. Must go now as free internet is limited.

On our last night we had a late snack from a street vendor before retiring to our guest house
