ChIang Mai
We left Bangkok yesterday,Friday. Used mini bus as it is cheaper than taxi to take us to airport and flew up to Chang Mai, which took 70mins. Met up with Lisa who took us on a walking tour of the town. The town centre has 100's of guest houses, so when we went out for our evening meal every eating place is full of travellers. It seems the custum to share your experiences with people you meet. One couple in their late 40's, work for 2 years and then take 6 months off backpacking. They are fortunate they both have jobs they can return to. Meal with 2 glasses of wine or beer was £5 each.
Today we are hiring push bikes as it is the easiest way to visit all the local sites, expect we will have some sore places !!!!!! Chang Mai is a vey laid back town and people come here to chill out. It is very old with 2 main streets forming a cross and surrounded on all 4 sides with a moat. Joining up with the main streets is a maze of quaint side streets ( lanes) with fabulous little shops, eating places and small business'.
Our room is very nice, bathroom with shower, large bed, fridge, telly, air con, table, balcony and even a rail with hangers. Price with breakfast which we are just going down for ( when Janina finishes in the shower ) is £10.50 per night.
Writing this blog on my iPad which does not allow pictures to be added, will use Janina's laptop tonight as Lisa has shown me how to do it.
