Kanchanaburi & Thai Garden Guesthouse

After settling into our bungalow and checking out the pool, we walked to "The Bridge On The River Kwai" made famous by the 1957 movie, only 1.2 km from our guesthouse. The target of many Allied bombings the bridge was used by the Japanese for two years before it  was eventually destroyed..  Rebuilt after the war with many parts of the original bridge, and is still in daily use. Walked back along the river bank to spot birds and butterflies.  Evening we walked into the town for dinner, took about 15 mins, and found a very cheap restaurant, £5 for meal and drinks for both of us. The town is full of restaurants, shops and guesthouses, but daily life appears to be at a very slow pace...... weather at max 34c min 24c could be one reason.
